Early Childhood Education

The Gateway philosophy is that all children have special needs, and an inclusive approach to early childhood education is the best way for children to develop appropriate skills while learning and growing together.

In our high-quality developmental child care programs, you will see children playing, exploring, and experimenting with materials in a wide variety of learning centers. These learning centers facilitate independent learning and growth in cognitive development as well as fine motor, social/emotional, and self-help skills. The children also build their large motor skills when they play on our outdoor, fenced in playground, in our full size gym, and take field trips and walks. Daily classroom activities are individualized to support each child's specific development and needs. To meet these needs, activities may be modified by adapting the environment and learning materials and/or by providing specialized equipment.

We offer two different educational programs:

W.E. C.A.R.E. Learning Center

Child Development Center

Pediatric Therapy Services

We employ and contract with experienced First Steps therapists to provide quality pediatric therapy services. Services can be provided to children enrolled in either the Child Development Center or W.E. C.A.R.E. Learning Center, by appointment at the Gateway facility, or in the home.

Speech Therapy - Therapists focus on helping students with receptive and expressive speech by working on pronunciation, conversational skills, and learning to make complete sentences.

Physical Therapy - The exercises used help children from birth through age 6, who have delayed or under-developed motor skills, work on balance, walking, crawling, and trunk and arm movement.

Occupational Therapy - These services are provided for children from birth through age 6 who need help with cognitive and fine motor skills. The therapy focuses on self-help, pre-writing, and cognitive skills that are important to that child's age level.
